#2: Get Inspired, Read “The 4-Hour Workweek”

“The 4-Hour Workweek,” by Tim Ferriss helped motivate me! Zack bought it. That’s how I got a hold of it, but he hasn’t read it yet. Which is kind of funny since I don’t have a day job.

I never do the exercises in these types of books, but I did do the one in the beginning of this one. Two of the things on my wish list were “buy bras, get a haircut.” And then, on the long-term list, “family sabbatical.”

I loved the story about the author consulting with CEOs and convincing them to sell all their vacation homes because they’re too much work to manage for only a week visit a year even with other people doing the work and all the money in the world. This book is about honing in on what’s really important to you and slimming down your life to focus on it. It’s about doing something now and not waiting for retirement.

Since I read this book, I now outsource a lot of phone calls and tasks to India! I can call the airline and get a list of questions answered for $3.75 and save myself a lot of stress doing it. Seriously, I can’t make a phone call around here. I’d rather pay someone to do that stuff so that I can be with the kids and not get all sweaty wondering if I’m going to make it to the end of the hold music.

It’s a fun inspirational read for all of us stuck in the routine of the workweek.
